Danielle Sopchak, known affectionately by her peers as Danie, is a flutist and multi-instrumentalist known for her vibrant flute playing and warm, bold tone. Her compositions feature instrumental extended techniques, and electronics. Sopchak writes captivating arrangements of classic jazz standards and classical music using these techniques. Her band Mixed State fuses sounds together from a mix of influences ranging from Bobbi Humphrey to Emily Remler to Bikini Kill, to create a sound uniquely hers.
After spending time performing and teaching in Nashville, TN, Sopchak pursued her masters degree and currently resides in New York City. Danielle holds a Master of Music in Jazz Performance from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College (NY), studying with saxophonists Antonio Hart and Tim Armacost. Danielle also holds Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Music from The University of Tampa studying with multi-instrumentalist Bob Macar (FL).
Equally passionate about community outreach and development, Danielle is co-founder of Nashville Women in Jazz, an organization to empower and amplify women and marginalized people in Nashville’s jazz community.
She owns a digital media company, where she is a pivotal resource in helping artists or all genres book and promote their work; positively growing their digital footprints.
